FOUNDER/SHAREHOLDER/REAL ESTATE ATTORNEY

Edward McFerran originally founded the law firm. He practices as an attorney primarily in the areas of real estate, business and tax matters. He is presently a shareholder in the firm along with Jean Bouffard and Matthew Link.

Mr. McFerran has served as President and managing Shareholder of Tax Deferred Exchange Services, Inc., a national Qualified Intermediary company. In that capacity, Mr. McFerran’s professional practice has focused on tax planning for clients throughout the United States in the tax deferred exchange arena, advising taxpayers, exchangors, accountants, trustees, Qualified Intermediaries and escrow agents. In addition, Mr. McFerran has himself served as Qualified Intermediary in literally thousands of tax deferred exchange transactions throughout the United States.

Mr. McFerran is a frequent speaker on tax and law matters sponsored by bar associations, accounting groups and other various private industry groups. Mr. McFerran is a graduate of Seattle University Alber’s School of Business. He received his law degree with honors from the University of Puget Sound School of Law.

SHAREHOLDER/REAL ESTATE ATTORNEY

Matthew Link is an attorney and shareholder at McFerran Law.

Mr. Link’s practice focuses primarily on the areas of real estate, business matters, estate planning, residential and commercial landlord tenant matters, and foreclosures. Mr. Link’s practice involves a variety of matters in both transactional and litigation settings.

Mr. Link’s broad experience enables him to take a big picture perspective in providing cost-effective representation to his clients.

Mr. Link grew up in University Place, Washington and attended law school at Seattle University School of Law. Mr. Link graduated from Seattle University cum laude in 2013 and he also received a CALI award in Property (highest grade in the section).

Mr. Link joined McFerran Law over five years after practicing for a civil litigation group in Snohomish County after graduating law school.

Mr. Link resides in Steilacoom, Washington with his wife and two (2) children. He spends his free time with his family, enjoying the outdoors, and cheering for the Seahawks and Mariners.

REAL ESTATE ATTORNEY

Heather Walley is a career associate real estate attorney with our law firm.  She graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.  Heather then attended the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California obtaining her Juris Doctor degree.  After graduation, she returned to her home State of Washington where her family also resides.

Heather in the past worked with a large law firm in Seattle assisting in judicial foreclosures and mediations through the Home Affordable Modification Program.  She also worked closely in past years with a local real estate attorney involved in primarily litigation matters.  She has, over her years as an attorney, worked in literally all facets of real estate law.  After a brief hiatus to care for her growing family, she returned to practice real estate law at McFerran Law.

Heather originally joined McFerran Law as an associate working with the 1031 Tax Deferred Exchange Group within our law practice. Having moved into the transactional real estate attorney group, she will continue to assist the 1031 tax deferred exchange group as their House Counsel.  She also plays an integral role in our in-house, full-service commercial and residential escrow department.

Heather is a longtime resident of the Pacific Northwest being originally from Bellingham, Washington.  She spends her free time with her family and dog; doing home improvements, and trying to tame her yard. 

REAL ESTATE ATTORNEY

Afsaneh Hassani is a Washington State Attorney focusing on real estate law and business transactions with experience in both transactional and litigation matters. Afsaneh guides clients through residential and commercial lease agreements, landlord-tenant laws, and drafting sales and purchase agreements.

Her expertise extends to drafting a variety of contracts, forming and structuring business entities such as LLCs and corporations, and preparing governing documents like bylaws, operating agreements, and board resolutions. Afsaneh also advises early-stage companies on equity financing, securities laws, and relevant document drafting.

Afsaneh earned her degree Magna Cum Laude honors in her LLM in Global Business Law from the University of Washington School of Law, complemented by a bachelor’s degree in law from a civil law jurisdiction. This diverse educational background enables her to offer unique insights and comprehensive legal solutions to her clients.

In her free time, Afsaneh enjoys the Pacific Northwest’s outdoor activities like hiking, snowboarding, and paddleboarding in the region’s lakes.

REAL ESTATE ATTORNEY

Mike McCarthy is an experienced attorney with over a decade of practice in diverse legal areas, including land use, real estate, family law, and probate litigation. He has built a reputation for providing exceptional counsel and advocacy, guiding clients through complex legal challenges.

In addition to his private practice, Mike has served as a Hearing Examiner for various municipalities, such as Pierce County, Normandy Park, Bonney Lake, Sumner, Gig Harbor, and as a SEPA Review Examiner for the Seattle School District. In these quasi-judicial roles, he has presided over cases involving land use, civil infractions, code enforcement, nuisance violations, and other disputes.

Born and raised in Tacoma, Mike earned his Juris Doctorate from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/Composition from Seattle University in Seattle, Washington.

Outside of his professional life, Mike enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, traveling, playing basketball, and exploring the outdoors. His commitment to resolving disputes effectively and his comprehensive legal background make him a trusted advocate for a broad range of legal matters.
